Things You Didn't Hear About Me and Some Random Questions

Well, it's 3:00 in the morning and some random thoughts just hit my mind to keep me awake. People say that - when you suddenly awaken at 3AM, it's either something had spooked you or someone else is thinking about you. Duh!

In my case, it's neither. I woke up at 10:00 in the evening and haven't back to bed. I need to stay awake until 5:00 to get plenty of sleep later in the day.

I'm on a night shift. I need enough energy to get through the night. 🙄

Couldn't think of anything else to do.

My appetite in writing seems not on the run. I haven't started anything on my newest novel and couldn't find any momentum to start drafting the plot. So I just posted updates in my travel blog and made some revision on previous posts the whole day.

And to keep myself a little busy at this ungodly hour, I need to blog 😄 And what else could possibly be the best thing to write? Random questions!

I love it. Answering random questions is a great detour when writer's block hits me.

Here we go!! 🤗🤓

Where were you 10 hours ago?
I went to the grocery. Did some quick supermarket errand 😊

Look around, what have you seen?
Oh God! It's 3AM. I hope not to see sinister figures. 😱 Okay, our cats and dogs sleeping comfortably.

Any sounds you hear?
Why questions seem scaring me? 🙄 our cats scratching our wall. Haha!

Do you smoke?
Nope!

How about alcoholic drinks?
Never!

Any favorite chips?
I don't eat chips that much. But whenever cravings strike I just grab a bag of potato chips. Love it.

Do you binge?
Sometimes yes. Cornflakes or oatmeal cookies.

Do you cook?
Yes. I personally cook my own food.

How about baking?
Yep. I bake simple goodies like pancakes and muffins. Brownies can be too ambitious haha!

Lights off, lights on?
What's that? Uhmm. Lights off when I sleep. Lights on when I'm reading.

Have you been in the newspaper?
Yes. Back in 2010 when I joined an empowering seminar for women sponsored by the Davao bloggers community.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever cried about?
Couldn't think of anything dumb. Each time I cry over something, I know it's worth of my tears.

Who would you hate to see naked?
Donald Trump. Come on!

Are you religious?
In a way yes. I observed heartily all obligations and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church.

Your family tradition that seems so weird to others.
We considered Good Friday as the holiest day of observance. Thus, we only spend it in the church or in the house but never on a vacation or anywhere. We usually foregoing taking a bath on this day and take only one full meal.

Your Current Favorite Song? Why?
I Do by 911. It's number one in my play list. I find it so melodious and sweet and inspiring. The lyrics filled with promises. Like yeah, I have been waiting for that elusive "the one" for ages to sweep off my feet. And "I DO" song exactly magnifies those longings and wishes.

Everything in the lyrics is just so sweet, so romantic, so inspiring. It manifests forever, that we gotta believe there's still someone somewhere in this world meant for us. One of my favorite lines in the song "I'll be by your side 'til the day I die, I'll be waiting til I hear you say I do". It rocks!

When was the last time you cried?
Last night. Just a thought of all the might-have-beens. And all the what ifs and buts in my life.

Ever felt angry for the last days?
Angry towards myself, yes. For continue to assume things wrongly. For continue to cling on some hope. But looks like I'm navigating the impossible. Seems I didn't learn a lesson after all. I'm still in my old self. Gullible and weak and stubborn.

How do you define love?
Love is a decision. It's a choice. Not just feelings. When you feel like falling in love, you're not supposed to plunge right away without weighing things, without checking your conscience and judgment. That's why it's a decision to make, not just emotion.

When can you say it's love?
Well, there's some truth about the tale of Cinderella. It's love when the shoe fits perfectly. When everything is so comfortable and cozy and right. When that person lifts your spirit and makes everything so balance and relax.

Have you found The One?
Let love find me Haha! 😜. I'm tired analyzing my destiny. Just how many times I've said I have found the one but turns out to be a false alarm? I haven't been into a relationship ever since. I am not close to any guy. I am always scared of men. But there were few occasions in the past that I got acquainted with men. And felt the beat of my heart. But their interest darted elsewhere, and to someone else, not on me.

Ever had a first kiss?
Geeez not yet! I haven't been into a relationship.

Any idea for a perfect date?
I like walk on a beach and long conversation. And yes, the traditional dinner date. But right now, I want someone to take me into a long, road trip. This is my current idea of a perfect date. Haha!

If someone asks you out. Either to movie or dinner. Which one would you prefer?
Dinner. We're still getting to know each other, it's crazy to go on a movie date right away. Dinner is the most ideal. It allows two persons to talk and get to know each other well.

You prefer someone who is?
Someone whom I feel very comfortable with. Someone who is fun to be with. Easy to go with. Someone who can make me laugh. And whom I can share stories. I like smart guys. Someone who can talk anything under the sun and with substance.

Are you easily attracted towards an opposite sex physically?
Nope. In fact, I didn't know what's my attraction towards men. All I know is that I find eyes as the sexiest part of a man's body. But I couldn't figure out what sex appeal truly means. Perhaps, I'm a visual type of person and not sensual.

So who is your greatest crush?
Direk Lino Cayetano back then. Haha! He is intelligent, smart and with a pair of soulful brown eyes.

Any culture outside your own that you are interested with?
Japanese culture. Perhaps because I Iove oriental frills and I adored Japanese cuisine.

What's one thing you've been doing privately that you never do when in front of your friends.
I sing! Haha! No one, except my sister and few friends, knew that I can sing, that I am into singing. When I'm in front of  others I decline to sing because I find it uncomfortable. But when I'm with close friends and in front of videoke no one can stop me except exhaustion!

What was the last book you purchased?
Solo Flight. It's an inspirational book for people who seem getting hopeless to get married haha!

Facebook or Instagram which do you prefer?
Instagram! It's more interesting and awesome. I can follow and view photos of my favorite celebrities and public figures. And because basically, I love photography.

Who would you like to live like for a day?
If only he is not married yet, perhaps Evan Spiegel, founder of Snapchat. My God! He is so awesome, so hot and cute! Miranda Kerr is so lucky to have him.

Tell us your basic skincare.
I wear sunblock all the time. It's a very basic defense against premature aging. I wash my face before going to bed using a facial brightening foam from Garnier, the one with grapefruit, pomegranate and vitamin c extracts. I am also applying vitamin E and C skin serum to keep my face hydrated and young. And yes, I drink collagen supplement.

Any lifestyle you have that's slightly different from the rest?
I never hangout with friends in a bar or anywhere other than traveling. I don't drink alcoholic beverages. In fact, I haven't tried it ever since, not even light beer. I hate parties. I just want to stay at home and write stories.

I am doing dance exercise every other day or whenever I can, to stay physically fit. I rarely eat meat, just limiting it to once a month. I rarely go to a fast food chain. I seldom eat chocolates. And I'm not into sweet food but I love blueberry cheesecake haha!

Coffee or Tea?
Tea of course. Green Tea in particular.

Pizza or Pasta.
Pasta, particularly baked penne, carbonara and bolognese

Chocolate or Cheesecake
Cheesecake. I seldom eat chocolates

I have four. Mustique in the Caribbean. Veyvey in Switzerland. Tuscany in Italy and Kyoto in Japan.

Your dream job?
Screenwriter or documentary filmmaker. I hope I still can achieve any of this in my lifetime.

Favorite toys in childhood
I did not have any toys in my childhood. I could not remember having one. Even dolls. My father never bought toys for us. He wanted us to develop our creativity so instead of giving toys. he often let us draw and read books and play with cousins.

I remember when we were still living in the farm, my father built us a large playhouse in the backyard to enjoy the afternoon and playtime.

Signs that you are into someone?
When I'm thinking about him and reach out to him and like to talk to him. I don't have stable guy friends, you know like other girls who have usual guy friends and companions. I don't have it. I have never been close to a guy before. I am yet to experience my first date. Geez!

I always find it uncomfortable to talk to boys, even before. I am not use to being around with boys. But when I started reaching out to a guy. When I started initiating a conversation with him, sharing stories and laughter. That means something. Like yeah, I am comfortable with this guy. I want to take it further.

What do you think a man could do to preserve the earth?
Enough awareness on global warming and knowledge over carbon footprints. Everyone must be aware that everyday we are contributing to the worsening condition of the warming of atmosphere. This is inevitable because the world is adopting a highly industrialized economy. But we can slow it down by being aware with our carbon footprints.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Completing a suspense novel. It's been my dream to publish a book and having it done before reaching my prime age is such a great achievement. Not everyone can write a book I know that.

What are you most proud of?
That I can make sensible decisions and still single at this time haha! The best part of being single is that I can still rearrange my life plans, reconstruct my dreams and build goals all over again. No one is affected and I can still wish to marry someone I want to be with 😉

What's marriage for you?
It's a serious state that entails bigger responsibilities. I am still hoping I could get married of course to someone who would truly accept me despite my shortcomings. He is not necessarily the person whom I am madly inlove with but the one who is so level-headed who is right there, at the right place, at the right time. A God's gift.

Where were you born?
In Sto.Nino, a small coastal barangay, part of the town of San Agustin in Surigao del sur. It's a place nestled between mountains and ocean.

How many places have you lived?
Other than my birthplace. I have been to many places. I was raised in a farm for the early part of my life. My father had a farm property. He ventured into poultry business, copra and abaca buying apart from his job in the government office.

When I attended school we moved to a different town. I spent my college in Davao city and took up permanent residence there when I started working. I went to Cebu City for a time and lived there for 7 months before moving back to Davao for good. In 2013, after I obtained my master's degree in business, I relocated in Manila.

Have you traveled outside your country? If yes, where?
Yes. In Hongkong and Macau (2013), Vietnam and Cambodia (2015).

Which do you prefer, country or city?
I prefer a countryside. I'm a country girl by heart. And one of my yearnings is to build a small house in a suburban or in the farm with a beautiful garden and oriental plants.

Your dream pets?
A Siberian husky and a golden retriever. And any breed of cats! 🐈🐕

Books that have changed your life?
All self-developmental books. Living, Loving and Learning by Leo Buscaglia and The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck.

Titanic or The Notebook?
Titanic! I like epic and tragic movies.

What's one movie that even thinking about it can make you cry?
The Greenmile. It was written by Stephen King and was made into movie by director Frank Darabont starring Tom Hanks. A very emotional movie which talks about injustices and unfair trial.

When was the last time you watch a movie in cinema?
October this year. Venom. It is part of the free perks in the company I worked with. Though I love going out to the movies. I couldn't find a film to watch currently that's so worthy of my time, effort and money.

A feel-good song that you want to hear for the rest of your life.
Easy by Lionel Richie. So wonderful, so melodious and perfectly smooth. Every time I hear this song it makes me dream of living a suburban or country life and spend each morning jogging, walking with my dog or making breakfast outdoor with my family.

Things we never heard about you?
I know how to sketch a house design. All those structures and interiors and outdoor landscape. I dreamed to own a small house with a beautiful kitchen, a cozy living room and big French windows. I like gardening a lot so I often sketch a lovely dining area facing a beautiful oriental garden.

I also designed dresses and bags. Most of my outfit in my high school years, including the red silk cocktail dress I worn to my senior prom, were made out of my sketches and designs. Part of me wanted a career in fashion and garments designing.

Once again, are you romantic? 😜
Hahaha! Geeez. I guess yes. I mean people are innately romantic. Even if we're not into a relationship. We can show affection towards someone even if the relationship is plain friendship.

Romance is taken from the word Romans, referring to the people of Rome. They are perceived to be very affectionate, compassionate and intimate. I'm compassionate towards many things, therefore, I'm romantic. 😀
