I love this newest Green Tea variety of Lipton - the Exclusive Selection edition of Green Tea Sencha. I love the fruity taste (citrusy) and the floral scent. It adds a relaxing experience and comfort, sipping Green Tea. It has been three years since I stopped buying a teabag because I switched to sencha loose leaves. When it comes to health benefits, loose leaves offer more benefits than teabags, but I cannot resist this newest edition of Lipton's Green Tea Sencha haha!
When it comes to taste, it's perfect. Smooth, flavorful, and comforting. Unlike regular green tea, this one does not smell grassy at all. It is in fact, floral and fruity. so if you are a green tea lover, this is a perfect variety for you.
According to the product description of this variety, it says:
Lipton's Green Tea Sencha is part of their "Exclusive Selection," offering a premium, Japanese-inspired green tea with delicate and slightly sweet notes, often blended with pear flavor and rose petals in pyramid bags for better infusion. It's a lighter, smoother alternative to standard green teas, featuring finely selected leaves, ideal for a calming, revitalizing drink.
This is a Japanese-style Sencha, known for its smoothness and light body, and comes in pyramid-shaped, pyramid tea bags, allowing ingredients more room to infuse. Ingredients: Primarily green tea (around 89%), with aroma (9.3%) and rose petals (1%). Brewing: Use hot water (around 90°C) and steep for about 2 minutes for optimal flavor.
How it Differs from Regular Green Tea
Processing: Sencha leaves are steamed, rolled, and dried with a gentler process, resulting in a more complex, umami-rich character. Lipton's Sencha is crafted for a "pure, authentic" experience, avoiding bitter notes for a refreshing break.
Sencha has higher health benefits than regular green tea because the leaves used for this type of processing are carefully selected from the younger leaves of Camelia Sinensis and harvested at springtime. It is also not dried but steamed to prevent further oxidation.
Just a reminder: To prevent a bitter taste and get the full benefits of green tea, do not boil the water, hot water is enough. Just soak the bag below three minutes.
