On September 27, 2019, the European royalty has some good news to share to the world. The Duke and Duchess of York proudly announced the engagement of their eldest daughter, Princess Beatrice of York, to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, known as Edo to his friends and family, a wealthy property developer.

The couple had been dating for two years now and both families were known each other for years. Edo descended from the Italian aristocracy, which made him belong to the upper-class of the society in Europe. His father, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, is a nobleman and an alpine skier who competed for Britain in the 1972 Winter Olympics in Japan.

There is no wedding date for the couple yet but it was expected they will wed in 2020. On the day the engagement was formally announced, Princess Beatrice showed her engagement ring which Edo helped design with British jeweler, Shaun Leane. The platinum band is made of a round-shaped diamond flanked by four baguette-cut diamonds.

The ring is reminiscent to the Queen's engagement ring, simple and yet elegant and oozing with splendor. Princess Beatrice is the fifth grandchild of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and currently ninth in the line of succession to the British throne. She is 31 years old while her future groom is 34 years old.

Edo has a child from his previous relationship with Dara Huang whom he broke up in 2018, making Beatrice the first of the Queen's granddaughter to become a step mother after the wedding.
