OMG! Can't believe this is happening. Haha! A travel destination that's been in my bucket list for such a long time will be finally realised this coming June 2026. Shanghai, China! Wheeew. Thank you Lord!
But here's the catch, I'm traveling solo. And this is my first time travel abroad ever that I will be solo. This is not a DIY trip. I am joining a group tour from a travel agency. I am already tired planning a trip so I decided to join a group tour since I am traveling alone. But I am not afraid. In fact, I am excited. I am thrilled to finally go on a solo trip.
I've been planning to visit Shanghai since last year, April 2025, but kept on postponing because I don't want to travel solo. I asked some friends to join me in this trip. I've two friends who actually agreed. We started planning the trip in November 2025. I let them chose the date that's convenience to them since they will still file a vacation leave, and they said they're available by June 2026.
So okay, I thought they were really serious. But oh boy, came March this year, they backed out because they were not prepared financially. OMG I thought we already finalised the plan last year so I was expecting they set aside a budget for the trip. That's when I decided to travel solo because if I continue to wait for someone to accompany me then I will never realise my dream to travel abroad this year.
But I can't blame others if they don't want to travel. We have different priorities. We have different purpose in life haha! My greatest dream in life is really to travel abroad and explore other countries. I want to learn and discover and see how far my courage and strength could go if I'm in another territory.
That's why I want to travel abroad, it's a whole new experience, it will teach us a different lesson, it enhances our wisdom, and discover new things from a whole new environment.
So why Shanghai? Well, this is an ultra-modern city. This is one of the most advanced cities in Asia just like Tokyo, Seoul, and Dubai. It is China's most Westernized city and there are so many things to learn and discover in Shanghai. That's why this is part of my travel bucket list for a long time. And finally, I can realise this travel dream soon!
The only downside of a joiner in a group tour is that I paid an additional Php5,400.00 as a supplementary fee because I'm traveling solo so I have to occupy a single room. This tour package is only Php27,000.00 for five days but since I am a joiner I paid Php32,400.00. Anyway, I don't mind as long as I can finally visit Shanghai! 😂
